ELIGIBILITY DEFINITIONS

SSV will focus on Severely Wounded Veterans with disabilities that are determined to have a serious employment handicap and which requires discharge or release from active duty because of the service-connected disability. SSV will offer assistance to veterans that do not meet the eligibility criteria using our clearing house approach and existing support agencies. Counseling, Coaching, and Guidance remain the key components to assisting veteran needs.

Veteran/family criteria: (a) Wounded veterans must suffer from injuries or illness incurred after 10 September 2001 in support of the Global War On Terrorism (GWOT). (b) Wounded veterans must receive a branch of service (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard) disability rating of 30% or greater and classified as a “Special Category” patient as defined by applicable branch of service regulations. Wounded veterans and families are considered active program participants when agreement and commitment between the two parties is obtained.
